Welcome to the web site of the Central Pennsylvania Pastel Society.
Formed in late 2004, our society represents artists in the central Pennyslvania
region who are interested in the medium of soft pastel. Throughout the year
we organize exhibitions, offer member meetings to share work and ideas,
organize plein air painting opportunities, and
promote artistic development for our members. We invite you to browse our web
site where you will learn more about our work and the opportunities that we
offer.

Limited to 12 participants on a first come, first served basis. January 15, 2013 is the last day for Society members to have registration preference. Contact : Judy Leasure jleasure106@comcast.net
Still Life is the focus for this workshop it will be best to work from secondary material such as sketchbook drawings or photos rather than real life. You can even do second or third versions of your own paintings – or variations. In this workshop its OK to do something over again (but from scratch thank you). The major point of the workshop is to learn new ways of painting with pastels and texture making rather than focus on composition or imagery…
Note: if you choose to work from a photographic reference try to keep to something relatively simple rather than complicated. For this workshop speed counts and its best to go simple. You may bring easels, but working flat on a table may be easier.

November 8, 9, 10, 2013 Pat Tribastone Workshop “Let’s Get Real”,
Three Days
Best Western Plus, State College, PA
Pat is a signature member of the Pastel Society of America, and last year she was one of the pastel artists whose art work was auctioned off at the PSA Gala Exhibition Dinner at the PSA in NYC, and she is one of the judges for the Northeast National Pastel Exhibition this year. In the each of last two years, Pat's work has been featured in "American Artist" magazine.
Pat has a distinctive style and approach to the still life, please check out her work on line: www.patriciatribastone.com
Her workshop is titled "Let's Get Real" and in the 3-day workshop she uses demonstration, discussion, and hands on time for students to teach the elements of still life painting in pastel using a realistic approach from composition through drawing, to color scheme selection, and finally to painting using techniques that will make your objects look real. If time permits, we will also paint a surface to enhance texture and experiment with underpaintings. You are guaranteed to learn a lot during this 3-day adventure.
Pat not only does beautiful work, she is also able to explain what she does and why she does it. Further, the supplies required for this workshop are all things that you already own, so there should be minimal need to purchase special supplies for this workshop.
The cost for the workshop is $350.00. A deposit of $100 is required to secure your seat. The workshop will be considered full at 17 students. Registration is now open for this workshop and the registration form will be included in the next newsletter. For additional information, contact Judy Leasure at leasure.judy@gmail.com
